Foster Grandparent Program

The Foster Grandparent Program enables senior volunteers to remain physically and mentally active and to enhance their self-esteem through continued participation in needed community service by working with special needs children in non-profit child care centers.

As a Foster Grandparent Volunteer, you will receive many benefits!

  • An hourly stipend of $2.65 per hour
  • Meals or reimbursement for meals
  • Mileage reimbursement
  • Monthly trainings
  • Annual recognition
  • Annual Wellness Screenings

To be considered for enrollment as a volunteer, you must:

  • Be age 55 or older
  • Meet income eligibility guidelines
  • Be physically and mentally capable of serving  their clients
  • Pass a national criminal background check

The Foster Grandparent Program is sponsored locally by the LOA Area Agency on Aging and is part of the Senior Service Corps and federally funded through the Corporation for National and Community Service.
