Vital Transportation

“When I am not able to drive I have no family or friends to ask and to make bad matters worse, I cannot walk very far. So you’re giving me transportation makes it possible to stay in my home and take care of myself. For this I thank you and bless you.”

Vital Services Transportation is a program available to individuals 60 or older, with low incomes, who have an emergency need for transportation to a doctor, to the pharmacy, grocery store or other critical appointments. We help those who have no other source for transportation or means to pay for transportation. Individuals are transported by RADAR Transit Service.

To enroll in this service, call the office nearest you.  Our staff will complete a brief assessment to ensure you qualify for the service.  Once qualification has been established, we ask that you provide us with at least two days notice if you need a ride.

Assisted Transportation

Assisted Transportation is provided to seniors 60 and older who need to be accompanied by someone to medical appointments.

Assisted Transportation provides a Certified Nursing Assistant, CNA, to assist the person to the vehicle, drive them to the appointment and drive them home.  The CNA will see that the person gets back into his/her home safely.  The CNA will ensure that the senior understands what their physician needs them to do.  The CNA can also pick up any prescription medication from the pharmacy and ensure that the person understands how it should be taken.

This service is provided in the Roanoke area and part of Botetourt County.

“LOA assisted transportation has been and is a wonderful help and blessing to us. We don’t know what would happen without it!  Friendly, compassionate caregivers.  It would be impossible for our children with work and families to keep up with our needs  We thank you for your outreach of love shared with us and many others.”
