Critical Assistance - Senior Safety

Senior Home Safety address problems of home and personal safety for older persons in the Roanoke Valley and Botetourt and Craig Counties. Activities focus on fire prevention, accident prevention and crime prevention. The Senior Home Safety project improves the lives of older persons through actual home improvement and education programs.

Volunteers install grab bars, railings, and locks as needed to improve the safety of the frail elderly in their homes. Other small home repairs are made where necessary. Examples of repairs include: broken windows, steps, and small electrical repairs such as replacement of worn light switches or fixtures. Volunteers also install smoke alarms and reflective house numbers to aid police and fire personnel.
